The fandom has come to the conclusion that all kinds of supernatural or unusual things happen in Amity Park and people take it like any other Tuesday.

Yes, in Amity Park there is a group of police (not to say half of all the police in the city) that are dedicated to controlling cults and their peculiarities, because we must remember that, despite the reputation of being a tourist trap, this town in the middle of nowhere has the reputation of being the most haunted place in the country (or the world), so it wouldn't be crazy to say that on certain dates of the year many "tourists" (cough cultists cough) arrive who come in order to do "events" (cough rites cough), so whether they want it or not, someone has to control that the limits on how they are "celebrating" are not broken… and to top it off, the limits of what the city considers acceptable is a greater margin than other places, so it has become common for some groups to come back later.

So yes, Amity Park has one of the most effective police departments in dealing with cults and supernatural beliefs, not only are they effective in identifying participants, most of the time they know what kind of cultist they are dealing with, whether they are just playing a game or are the real magic business and how dangerous/troublesome they will be in the end.

What's more, this group is so good at what they do, that many times the inhabitants of Amity Park prefer to call them instead of the GIW (they are too destructive and there is still no 100% reliable insurance that will pay for the damages they cause), when it comes to a problem with a ghost and the ghost child is not around.

and that competition is more noticeable when other cities in the country begin to ask for help with some unknown cults that are appearing rap

the mdzs moment i keep coming back to is the scene after aqing has learned the truth and is so shaken up she starts crying and xue yang sees her so she makes up this excuse about how someone bullied her for being ugly and xue yang just gives her advice on how to deal with bullies. it's awful advice and should not be followed ever but its genuine advice coming from his very messed up experiences and childhood. at this point he doesnt know aqing has seen right through him, he doesnt know everything with xiao xingchen will soon fall apart. he's just giving the best advice he can to a girl being bullied. i think about this a lot.

I had a weirdass discworld dream where they had a new distinction for days, idk what else to call it. At first people in Ankh-Morpork were all throwing their own fish, which of course caused much argument. So eventually Vetinari employed an official* Fish Thrower, who'd go out into Sator Square every morning, throw a sardine, and announce to the populace something like "today is the fourth of May, a Left Sunday" and several hundred people watching would groan** and go about their activities. The Times would print it in their daily paper too. There were rumors that this Fish Thrower was an ex-magician who specialized in sleight of hand and purposefully threw the fish to the patrician's specifications every morning.

Also, CMOT Dibbler started selling his own "Always Right Fish, Guaranteed Day Goes Right, Three For Tuppence And That's Cutting My Own Throat!", which all had the left half cut off and replaced with a glued-on right half of another fish. Incidentally, around the same time he also started selling a shitton of fish n chips.

city of heavenly fire is the tsc book if you think about it like it's so good. ended tmi with such a bang that it evaluated the series to new heights. wrapped up a six book series while setting up the next one, and on top of that incorporated the prequel and managed to do all three well. literally so many iconic and funny moments come from this book. also ended on a really hopeful note with the found family reuniting and being together after everything like 10/10. truly the cornerstone of this fandom.
